Occasionally a writeup may fail to generate. Here's what to do.
Tap the failed writeup in your history. You'll see an error message and a Try Again button. Tapping it reruns the AI pipeline with your original photos and voice note — no need to re-record anything.
Most failures are temporary (network timeout, AI provider issue) and resolve on retry.
If a writeup shows as processing for more than 2 minutes, something likely went wrong on the server side. Go back to the home screen, wait a moment, then check your history. If it's still processing after 5 minutes, tap it and use the Try Again option.
Slow connection: Large photos and audio files need a stable connection to upload. If you're on a weak cell signal, move to a better spot and try again.
Very short voice note: Notes under 10 seconds are blocked from submission, but edge cases can slip through. Record at least 15–20 seconds for best results.
Photo upload issue: If a photo failed to upload, the AI may have received incomplete input. Try again — the upload is retried automatically.
AI provider outage: We use Anthropic (Claude) as our primary AI with OpenAI (GPT-4o) as a fallback. In rare cases both may be unavailable simultaneously. Check back in a few minutes.
That's not a failure — use Regenerate to rerun the AI. You can add instructions to guide the result. See How to regenerate a writeup.
Email support@fieldrecap.io with a description of the issue and we'll look into it.
